Changing Seasons Summer -- Terry Redlin
Summer
Summer is the warmest season of the year. The Northern Hemisphere, the northern half of the earth, has summer weather during late June, July, August, and early September. Summerlike days sometimes occur in mid-autumn. In the Southern Hemisphere, summer lasts from late December until early March.
In summer, warm southern winds carry moisture north from the Gulf of Mexico to central and eastern North America. They can bring warm, humid weather to much of the region east of the Rocky Mountains and as far north as Canada.
Thunderstorms often develop in and along the northern boundary of this warm, moist air. The highest summer temperatures usually occur in the middle of the continent. from World Book

A Song for Summer
 Summer is a singing bird,
Downy-fluffed and clean,
Against the sky a winging bird
Feathered all in green.
Summer is a willow tree
Waltzing with the flow
Of wind across a meadow lea
Where wild flowers grow.
Summer is a gypsy tune
Echoed in the heart;
Never can it come too soon
Nor too late depart!

Summer Searching

Summer days hold jewels
That sparkle with rare light
Of rainbow flowers in daytime,
And polished stars at night.
Watch a morning glory,
In frail summer dress
Meet with pastel sparkle
A sun and wind caress.
Watch a velvet pansy,
Sweet faced, smiling, shy,
Greet with jewel like colors
Every passerby.
Wisteria and daisies,
Their colors bright but brief,
Are part of earth's jewel beauty
With charm beyond belief.
Summer days hold jewels
That meet the questing eye.
Come! Let us go searching
For others, you and I.
